Our History

Custom Edge started in Edmonton over 30 years ago with Dave Potter and his sporting goods store, Inside Edge. He needed branded t-shirts and equipment decals, but his standards were high, and nobody in the business came anywhere close to meeting them. So, like any young business owner, Dave said, “Forget it, I’ll do it myself.” Big surprise: he did it well. Maybe too well, actually, because the sporting goods store eventually turned into a graphics company.

Dave worked out of his garage for several years until he brought in partners and made the change to Custom Edge. The company has continued to grow, and over time we’ve partnered with other businesses like LP Tent to offer our customers a wider range of retail products. But we still stay true to the idea that started it all: when something needs to be done right, we do it ourselves.

Our Philosophy

We became Custom Edge because nobody in the business was doing good work and we knew we could do it better. In fact, even today, our competitors often ask us to fulfill their orders for them, and they bring us the projects they can’t finish themselves. If you’re working on something challenging, you might as well cut out the middle man and bring it to us, because we’ll probably end up doing it for you anyway.



Promotional branding is about more than just adding a logo to an item. It’s about thinking differently, doing the work creatively, and giving brands an edge they can’t get anywhere else. We even infused that belief into our logo: the symbol is both an upward arrow and a display case, showing how we always work to elevate and showcase your brand.



But we also believe you shouldn’t have to pay an arm and a leg to get that custom edge. The work costs what it costs and there’s no way around it, but we don’t believe in hidden fees or surprise rate hikes. By cutting out the middleman, you pay less and get more for your money. And you get to work with the best of the best while you’re at it.

Because we are the best. Thirty years ago, today, tomorrow, and every day after that. That’s our philosophy, and it’s our promise to you.

Branding Manager

As branding manager, Dave manages sales, administration, graphic design, and the overall Custom Edge brand. He likes that the company allows him to be creative and to do work differently from other print shops. Dave spends his rare free time snowboarding, mountain biking, and skateboarding.

James Turkington

Sales

James provides sales and customer service and handles issues head-on, promptly, and professionally. He likes working with cool companies and people, and he likes the even cooler work the company does for them. James spends his free time with his family and hitting the trails on his mountain bike.

Amanda Howe

Office Manager

Amanda manages accounts payable and receivable, payroll, shipping, inventory maintenance, production orders, customer service, HR, and more. She likes the way that everyone in the office pitches in to get the job done, even if it isn’t their responsibility. When she isn’t working, Amanda enjoys sports, reading, volunteering, and camping.

Scott Watson

Graphic Design

Scott specializes in the graphic design, marketing, and sales side of the business. He likes the fact that Custom Edge has a strong company culture and allows for plenty of creativity. Outside of the office, Scott enjoys skateboarding, snowboarding, concerts, travelling, and sending it.

Jordan Slowski

Graphics/Production Coordinator

Jordan designs and creates graphics while also providing support in both production and sales. He likes how Custom Edge strives for the best product/service for all it’s customers and partners, no matter the size of the job. When he’s not at work Jordan enjoys making art, hitting the gym, and exploring the city.
